Nintendo Announces 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS (tentative title) is an upcoming handheld gaming system produced by Nintendo. The handheld will succeed Nintendo's current Nintendo DS series, which primarily shares the handheld market with Sony's PlayStation Portable.

The Nintendo 3DS will offer games that utilize 3D effects "without the need for special glasses" and is also backwards compatible with Nintendo DS and DSi games.

Declining to give information about pricing or launch dates in the press release, Nintendo says it will reveal formal details about the Nintendo 3DS at the 2010 E3.

Asahi Shimbun speculated in its hardware report that parallax barrier technology by Sharp Corporation will be the basis of the 3D in the handheld. It is currently already in use by several Mobile Phones in Japan.

Nintendo expects the console to be released during the fiscal year ending March 2011.

Death Note Hits Hollywood

Variety reported that the popular series “Death Note” may be adapted into a Hollywood film by Warner Bros. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Death Note, it was a widely popular manga which was adapted into an anime and 2 Japanese live-action films, all of which turned out very successful.

The original story revolves around a student named Light Yagami who one day finds a notebook on the ground labelled “Death Note”. Inside, he finds instructions that explain that the Death Note is a special book that has the power to kill anyone if you write down their real name and picture their face in your mind. After testing the Death Note’s powers, Light decides to use it to rid the world of all evil and corrupt people, leaving behind only those he judges to be worthy. With criminals around the world suddenly meeting their demise, the police suspect that this isn’t just coincidence and hire the world’s top detective, whose alias is the letter “L”. Light and L face off in the rest of the series as Light tries to uncover L’s real name to escape suspicion, and L tries to figure out how a killer can kill with just a name and image.

The big rumor of course is that Light Yagami will be played by none other than Zac Effron

I don't really get why fans are getting so worked up over this. Zac Effron may be used to doing kiddie movies, but so what? He looks like Light, and could probably pull the role off pretty easily. The only person I'd rather see play the role

of Light is Drake from Drake and Josh.

See? Pretty strong resemblance don't you think?

Superman comic debut fetches $1.5 million

The comic debut of Superman has sold for an insane price.

Action Comics No. 1 from 1938, which features the first appearance of the Superman was bought by an anonymous buyer for a record $1.5 million Monday on the online auction site ComicConnect.com.

"This is the Holy Grail of Holy Grails," said Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of the Web site.

A copy of the same issue sold for $1 million in February, but this one fetched a higher price because it is in better condition. Zurzolo says it was stored in a movie magazine for the past 15 years.

"The book looks like it just came off the presses yesterday," said Zurzolo. "The colors are extremely vivid, the whites behind the 'Action Comics' logo are snow white. It's just a stunning copy -- it almost looks brand new."
